LSIC in The International HR Adviser magazine - Conflict Management: Essential Skills for Expatriate Managers
Conflict is a universal phenomenon which occurs for a multitude of reasons both at work and at home. However, conflict is more likely to occur in cross-cultural contexts and experiencing ongoing conflict early on in an international assignment can have a negative impact on the well-being and also the performance of an expatriate manager.
LSIC's Director Cathy Wellings is a regular contributor to The International HR Adviser, the leading glossy magazine for international human resources, global mobility and procurement professionals worldwide. Her latest article is about managing conflict across cultures and how expatriate managers can develop their conflict management skills. The article examines why conflict is more likely to occur and also be more challenging to manage when working overseas, and suggests some strategies for both global mobility managers and international assignees to avoid and reduce potential cross-cultural conflict.
